Extracts (of 2 letters dated 1 and 29 March) from Mr Solomon Merrit a merchant in Alicant[e] to his father in London. Concerns recommendations for the transfer of goods and effects to the local alcade and authorities on the death of British merchants, and reports that the French Consul at Valencia is arrested and cast into a common dungeon. News also of the arrival of the 'Crown' and 'Greenwich' warships from [Port] Mahon awaiting news from the consul in Madrid, to address the quarrel with Spain.
