Description

Selected records from a single series of registered files of the Treasury Solicitor relating to work on behalf of the Ministry of Materials. Registration commenced in 1951 and terminated in 1954, although some papers were added until 1955, and some earlier material dating back to 1940 is also included. The original file numbers were preceded by a prefix, 'M1'.

Among the subjects covered are the setting up and dissolution of the Ministry, contracts for the removal of materials, the development of a tungsten mine in Cumberland, agreements concerning rubber and flax production, newsprint rationing in wartime, and the dissolution of the Raw Cotton Commission.
