Administrative / biographical background

The Secretariat to the Commission for Judicial Appointments was created in 2001 to support the work of the eight Commissioners. It was based in Millbank Tower, Millbank, London. The Secretary of the Commission for Judicial Appointments was a Department for Constitutional Affairs member of staff who reported / liaised with the Department for Constitutional Affairs Director General Legal and Judicial Services, although care was always taken to preserve the independent integrity required by the Commission.
