Administrative / biographical background

The Big Tree Plant is a campaign to encourage people and communities to plant more trees in England's towns, cities and neighbourhoods. The Big Tree Plant was launched by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Forestry Commission in 2010, with support from a number of partner organisations including The Tree Council, Trees for Cities and Groundwork and aims to see a million new trees planted by 2015.
