The Social Work Reform Board was set up in January 2010 to lead a national social work reform programme. Its aim is to develop a social work system to provide high quality services by social workers who are well supported, and in whom the public felt confidence. The Board lead the implementation of the recommendations of the Social Work Task Force (December 2009). It has an advisory role, and reports to Government ministers in the Department for Education (DfE) Department of Health (DH), and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The Reform Board is chaired by Moira Gibb, who chaired the Social Work Task Force, and brings together senior representatives from the profession, higher education, employers of social workers, service user organisations and Government.
