The civil pay divisions were constituted in the major Treasury re-organisation of 1962.
The Civil Pay Group consisted of four divisions CP(1); CP(2); CP(3) - this division was concerned with the pay of members of certain public services who were not civil servants; and CP(4). Pay and conditions of service for the armed forces were dealt with by Defence and Overseas Personnel Division (DOP). Establishments Superannuation Branch dealt with civil service superannuation and compensation to civil servants for injury on duty, and pensions policy in the public services.
In the 1962 re-organisation CP(1) to CP(4) assumed responsibility for work previously carried out by the EG Division and also took certain pay elements from the following divisions:
ATASDPEDEPGSLOSSCivil pay divisions functions remained the same until the creation of the Civil Service Department in November 1968 when :
CP(1) became PAY 1CP(2) and CP(4) combined to become PAY 2CP (3) linked up with DOP to become PAY 3. -
