-
Arrangement
The files are being transferred in more than one batch. They are arranged in previous reference order within each accession.
When 2 FH(3) division was created, files from 2 FH(2) relating to decimalisation subjects were re-registered under the new division's prefix (2 FH(3)). When this was done, both the prefix and the numbering of the files changed. Following the transfer of responsibilities to 2 FH(1) in 1969, files continued to be raised in 2 FH(3) until 1971.

In addition to decimalisation, 2FH(3) dealt with the Royal Mint on currency and bank notes. It handled legislation, parliamentary matters and Parliamentary Questions affecting the Royal Mint. A major task of the division was to work closely with the Decimal Currency Board in the co-ordination of planning in the public sector. To this end it would from time to time circulate advice on decimalisation procedures to departments and, as appropriate, invite departments to serve on ad hoc functional working groups to consider aspects of decimalisation in specific fields. The division also performed the following functions:
the co-ordination of planning on decimalisation within the Government Departments;the co-ordination of consideration of the broader policy aspects of planning within nationalised industries and local authorities;the maintenance of close contact with the Decimal Currency Board on all public sector matters;the referral of major policy matters to the Official Committee on Decimal Currency for decision;the submission of half-yearly progress reports to the above committee -
