Folio 278. Letter from Joseph Knight, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newcastle under Lyme Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, concerning the death of Robert Barber, collector of rates for the parish of Newcastle. The guardians intend to elect his successor on 5 December.
Annotated: an order dated 4 December 1844 authorises the appointment of a collector for the parish of Newcastle under Lyme fixes the salary at such an amount as the guardians and the Board may determine. Salary of late officer, £60.
