Description

Folios 152-153. Letter from Samuel Harding, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newcastle under Lyme Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, regarding increase in salary for Robert Barlow, Collector of Rates, on the grounds of additional work due to increase in assessment from £21660 to £24796 causing him 'considerable extra trouble in the collection.'

Annotated: sanction.

Also annotated: an order from 4 December 1844 authorises the appointment of a collector for Newcastle under Lyme parish and fixes the salary at an amount which the board can from time to time direct or approve.
