Folio 144. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to Thomas Sherratt of Talk on the Hill, Lawton, Cheshire, regarding appointment of collector of rates and assistant overseer for the parish of Audley in the Newcastle under Lyme Poor Law Union. Confirms the Board's consent is not necessary to appoint an officer under Act 59 Geo III c 12 s 7 and the vestry can define the duties and fix the salary of the assistant overseer which may include the collection of the poor rate.
