Captured ship: De Vigilantie (master Gijsbert Moelaert).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (180 tons, 39 men) , bound from Surinam to Flushing; taken on 30 June 1803 in latitude 43°38'N, longitude 30°W by the privateer Lancaster of Liverpool (John Pettigrew commanding), and brought into Liverpool.
Documents: Court Papers, Ships Papers numbered 1-23. In 2023, 28 letters (mail-in-transit) from Surinam to the Netherlands were added here from HCA 32/922 and HCA 32/927, where they had been intermingled with mail (letters sent from Saint Domingue to Bordeaux) from another ship (L'Union of Bordeaux, taken on 3 July 1803 by the same captor)
