Folios 326-327. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission, to Alfred Austin, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, enclosing a copy of a letter they have sent to [Thomas Day], Clerk to the Guardians of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union. They have received a letter from W A Greening stating that a workhouse pauper, who is appointed under bye-law number 11 to run errands, is being used to take private letters from the post office to the home of one of the guardians and to run errands for his family. The Commission asks for the guardians' comments as it appears that this should not be approved by the board.
Annotated: note to Mr Austin [Alfred Austin, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] suggesting that there is bad blood [illegible] and that the matter might best be dealt with on his next visit.
