Folio 270. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission, to Thomas Day, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union, thanking him for reporting the case of William Houghton as required by Article 4 of the Outdoor Relief Prohibitory Order. Houghton is an able-bodied widower with seven children, two of whom have been taken into the workhouse. In the light of his earnings and the likelihood of his two oldest children soon finding work, they approve the relief for up to three months.
