Enclosing letter (dated 11 October) from Captain Vincent Pearce of HMS Phoenix concerning the assault on a drummer by Benjamin Boyden (a Coffee House owner) while recruiting for volunteers. Following the king's proclamation (town unknown)...the mob crying"God Damn King George" Boyden was arrested by the constable to appear before the quarter sessions.
