Description

These volumes contain entries of income and expenditure of a wide range of funds including:

  • German reparations
  • Treasure trove
  • Effects of deceased British subjects
  • Development fund and university college grants

They also record sums paid over to the exchequer and to various government departments, etc, in respect of interest received on foreign and commonwealth loans, conscience money, deposits forfeited at parliamentary elections, etc.

Separated material

Although it is known that ledgers went back at least to 1870 none earlier than 1918 are thought to survive.
