The Land and Buildings (LB) Division was set up in 1944, taking over work from Establishments General, Departmental Establishments (ED) Division. Files relating to the Duchy of Cornwall, Duchy of Lancaster, and Crown lands were transferred to LB Division from Agriculture and Food (AF) Division in 1948. In 1951 LB Division was incorporated into Government and Allied Services (GS) Division apart from certain functions which were transferred to Social Services (SS) Division, and to Establishments, General (Departmental Establishments) (ED) Division.
