In 1958, responsibilities for ancient monuments and historic buildings were transferred from this division to Arts, Science and Lands (AS) Division followed in 1959 by its "Lands" work. In 1962 Government and Allied Services (GS) Division was abolished, and its work divided between other supply and establishment divisions.
