Arrangement
Chronological within original subject classification (see Treasury Registration Systems).
From 1920 to 1930 the Establishment Officer's files were registered in the Establishment (E) series of the Central Registry. In 1930, the Central Registry was reorganised and the Establishment Officer's files were registered as Treasury General (TG) series. When the Central Registry system was decentralised in 1948, a further reorganisation took place. The prefix 'EO' was henceforth allocated to Establishment Officer's files, with all the surviving files from the earlier TG file series (1930-1948) and some of the series of E files (1920-1930) being re-registered into the EO file series.
Subsequent to 1948, the prefixes 'EO' and '2EO' were used: 'EO' (from 1948-1960), '2EO' (1960-1975 to enact the recommendations of the Grigg Committee on Departmental Records) and 'EO' (from 1975 to 1981 when the Treasury was re-organised).
