The Reparation Commission was constituted by virtue of Part VIII of the Treaty of Versailles and the corresponding parts of the other post-war treaties, with the object of handling the reparation problem as contemplated by the several treaties.
Before the appointment of Sir John Bradbury as principal British delegate on the Reparation Commission, the London Committee co-ordinated the work on claims. It was later concerned with the preparation of information and advice before the presentation of a case by the British delegate.
Two sub-committees dealt with accounts of damages to civilians and property, and compensation due to military and naval forces.
