Description

Budget and finance bill papers of the Chancellor of the Exchequer's Office. There are also papers relating to parliamentary debates and to the Chancellor's speeches and broadcasts.

Also includes a series of numbered books which appear to have been compiled under the direction of H P Hamilton, a Private Secretary from 1912 to 1918.

It is the practice of the Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer to have the papers which accumulated during the preparation of a Budget and Finance Bill bound (and stamped with his or her initials) when the Bill finally becomes law.
