Description

Correspondence and papers of the Secretary of State concerning the republic of Genoa, including letters from Pasquale Paoli about the rebellion of Corsica, 1763.

The records are mainly original in-letters to the Secretary of State from the English (later British) consul in Genoa (often called in the correspondence 'Genova', its Italian name). A number of petitions addressed to the Secretary of State, letters from the Doge of Genoa or his ministers to successive English or British monarchs, and some correspondence with the Lords Commissioners for Trade and Plantations may also be found.
