Correspondence and papers of the Secretary of State concerning the kingdom of Denmark (and Norway) and the duchy of Holstein (now in Germany).
The records are mainly in-letters (with some extracts) mostly to the Secretary of State from the English (later British) ministers at Copenhagen (the Envoy Extraordinary or the resident minister) or the consuls at Elsinore (Helsingor) and Bergen in Norway. Original letters from the King of Denmark, his ambassador or ministers, may also be found, together with a number of petitions, some royal warrants and instructions to the British representatives or agents acting for the government. Many draft replies by the Secretary of State are included, though they are less frequently found in the earlier volumes.
