Description

High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Swift of Rush (master John O'Brien, then John Oram).

History: an Irish ship probably engaged in smuggling (cutter, 50 tons, 16 men, 12 passengers), bound from Rush, Dublin to Dunkirk or else Flushing [Vlissingen], in ballast; taken on 30 September 1779 near the Smalls Rock, Pembrokeshire by HMS Lively (John Inglefield commanding), and brought into Milford Haven, Wales.

Court papers: 1-25; Ship's papers: 26-44.
