British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Richmond (commander John Martin).
History: an American merchant ship with a commission (sloop, 75 tons, 6 guns, 16 men), bound from Chinoteague Harbour to St Eustatius, laden with tobacco, tar, turpentine, staves; taken on 24 January 1779 in the mouth of the Rappahannock River, Virginia near Smith's Point by the privateer Revenge (William Finlay commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-6; Ship's papers: 7-7. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
