Captured ship: Prosperita (formerly the Norfolk and the Friendship ) (master Giusseppi Bettoya).
History: a Tuscan merchant ship (150 tons, 4 guns, 16 men), bound from Cadiz to Virginia, laden with wine, cordage, salt, dry goods; taken on 20 April 1779 in latitude 36°30'N, longitude 72°W by the privateers Royal Charlotte (John McLean commanding) and General Mathew (John Forsyth commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-6; Ship's papers: 7-110. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
