High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Prosper of Piscqatana (commander Joseph Atkins).
History: an American merchant ship (275 tons, 6 guns, 18 men; originally taken from French by an English privateer of Bristol in 1775 then retaken in September 1780 by the American privateer General Miffin and condemned by Congress), now bound from Portsmouth in Piscataqua, New Hampshire to Tenerife, laden with staves, spars; taken on 21 April 1781 in New Hampshire or therabouts in latitude 37°30'N, longitude 33°20'W by the privateer Lydia of Liverpool (Captain Hill commanding), and brought first into Londonderry, and then into Liverpool.
Court papers: 1-2; Ship's papers: 3-5. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
