Captured ship: Prinz Carl Von Hessen (master Johan Ahrens).
History: a Danish merchant ship (280 tons, 10 guns, 12 men), bound from Hamburg to Barcelona, laden with horse beans, wheat, linens, woollens, copper plates, pipe staves; taken on 2 July 1779 about 10 leagues W of Plymouth and 8 leagues S of Eddystone by HMS Le Coureur (Lieut Christopher Major commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
