Captured ship: Prince of Orange (master Matthys Hanszen).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (100 lasts, 2 guns, 18 men), bound from St Eustatius to Amsterdam, laden with tobacco, sugar, cotton, coffee; taken on 3 February 1781 in the road of St Eustatius by HMS Sandwich (Walker Young commanding), one of a fleet of ships under command of Admiral Rodney and brought into Cove [Cobh], Ireland, and then into Portsmouth, and then into the River Thames.
Court papers: 1-21;195; Ship's papers: 22-194. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
