History: an American merchant ship (schooner, 60 tons), formerly the Bermudian schooner Endeavour (master Michael Dyer); first taken bound from Bermuda to Halifax, Nova Scotia in October 1776 in latitude 36°42'N, longitude 64°30'W by armed sloop Montgomerie and brought into Rhode Island, retaken on 4 July 1777 at Chingoteague Inlet, Virginia by HMS Roebuck (Andrew Snape Hamond commanding), and brought into New York.
