Captured ship: Polly (master Abel Woodbury).
History: a American merchant ship (schooner, 36 tons, 4 men), bound from Alexandria, Virginia to Gloucester, Massachusetts, laden with flour, indian corn; taken on 9 October 1778 about 30 leagues SE of Sandy Hook, British New Jersey in latitude 39°40'N by HMS Richmond (John Lewis Gedoin commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-4; Ship's papers: 5-19. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
