High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Pieter (master Niels Ursin).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (150 tons, 4 men, 3 passengers), bound from St Croix to Amsterdam, laden with sugar, tobacco, hides; taken on 7 July 1776 about 10 miles from the Isle of Wight by HM Customs cutter Dolphin of Cowes (John Miller commanding), and brought into Cowes.
Court papers: 1-9. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
