Captured ship: Phoenix (master Isaac Elwell).
History: an American merchant ship (brigantine, 120 tons, 8 men, formerly a Loyalist ship taken by the American privateer Lady Starks, and condemned at Boston), now bound from Guadeloupe to Cape Ann, Massachusetts, laden with molasses; taken on 17 February 1782 off the Capes of Delaware in latitude 39°N, by HMS Savage (Thomas Graves commanding), and brought into New York.
