Captured ship: Monique of Nantes (master Jacques Desrud).
Capture history: a French merchant ship (goelette, 110 tons, 6 guns, 21 men, 8 American passengers) bound from Nantes to Virginia, laden with salt, muskets, nails, bale goods; taken on 1 October 1778 in latitude 46°N, by the privateers Alderney (Samuel Lauga commanding) and Swallow (John de Jersey commanding), and brought into Guernsey.
Intended voyage: from France to the United States.
