Captured ship: Molly (master Benjamin Cox).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 45 tons, 5 men) bound from Georgetown Winyah, South Carolina to Salem, Massachusetts, laden with rice, naval stores, pitch, indian corn, turpentine; taken on 24 April 1777 in latitude 34°20'N, longitude 74°15'W by HMS Galatea (Thomas Jordan commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: within the United States.
