British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Liberty (master William Bedlow).
History: an American merchant ship (50 tons, 7 men) bound from Annapolis, Maryland to St Croix, Danish West Indies, laden with 40 hogsheads of tobacco; taken on 4 October 1778 about 10 leagues from Cape Henry, by the loyalist privateer Lord Howe (Thomas Jann commanding), and brought into New York.
