Captured ship: Hercules (master Thomas Sample).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 60 tons, 3 men, 1 passenger) bound from the Morris River [Maurice River], New Jersey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, laden with lumber; taken on 16 March 1781 in the Delaware Bay by the loyalist privateer Trimmer (Levin Turner commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: within the United States.
