Captured ship: Harlequin (master Thomas Gibbons).
History: an American merchant ship (schooner, 40 or 50 tons, 8 guns, 13 men), bound from Port au Prince, Saint Domingue to Virginia, laden with sugar, rum, coffee, dry goods, salt; taken on 21 July 1779 in latitude 37°0'N, longitude 74°30'W within 5 leagues of Cape Henry, Virginia by the privateer Swift (William Cook commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-4; Ship's papers: 5-19. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
