High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: General Glover (commander Nicholas Bartlett).
Capture history: an American privateer (brigantine, 100 tons, 14 guns, 66 men) bound from Marblehead, Massachusetts on a cruise; taken on 19 September 1779 in latitude 39°N, about 100 leagues from the coast of America by HMS Maidstone (William Parker commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
Intended voyage: a cruise from the United States.
Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-
- [CP 1]: attestation as to papers (numbered 1-18) brought in by William Parker, 13 October 1779;
- [CP 2]: three depositions of Nicholas Bartlett, Thomas Elkins and Samuel Perry, all of Marblehead, commissioners' affidavit, and transmission of papers, taken at Portsmouth, 13 October 1779;
- [CP 3]: allegation, 13 November 1779.
