Captured ship: Friendship of Alexandria (master Robert Conway).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (sloop, 34 tons, 6 guns, 10 men) bound from Alexandria, Virginia to Martinique, laden with flour, tobacco, staves; taken on 24 August 1778 in latitude 34°N, longitude 72°W by the loyalist privateer George and Elizabeth (James Ridley commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the United States to the Caribbean Islands.
