Captured ship: Freede otherwise La Paz (master John Steffens).
History: a Swedish merchant ship (280 tons,12 men), bound from Villa Nova to Ferrol, laden with wine, brandy, iron, soap, rice, paper and soybeans; taken on 19 August 1779 in latitude 36°46'N by the privateer Achilles (William Hawkins commanding), and brought into Falmouth..
Court papers: 1-39; Ship's papers: 40-45. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
