British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Fanny (master John Maidie or Moodie).
History: an American merchant ship, bound from Stoning Town [Stonington], Connecticut to Baltimore, Maryland, laden with loaf sugar, oil; taken on 5 June 1777 about 11 leagues S of Montauk Point, Maryland by HMS Dispatch sloop (Christopher Mason commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-
- [CP 1]: deposition of John Moodie, master, and Frederick Calkins, mate of the Fanny, 12 June 1777;
- [CP 2]: affidavit of papers brought in by the prize master Paddon, master on HMS Dispatch, 27 September 1777;
- [CP 3]: libel in Advocate General at the relation of Mason v The schooner Fanny, 8 October 1777.
[Papers previously wrongly identified as Court papers: 1-3 (large pencil numbers): sorted and renumbered in 2025].
