Captured ship: L'Espiegle formerly St Ann (master Joseph Henri Maximin).
History: a French merchant ship (polacre,110 tons, 4 guns, 15 men), bound from Marseilles to Martinique, laden with wine, candles, soap, cheese, India goods, silks and other merchandise; taken on 11 October 1781 in latitude 35°30'N, longitude 10°W by the privateer Flying Fish (Joseph Anthony commanding), but stranded and wrecked on the coast of Cornwall..
