Captured ship: Erkentenis (master Cornelius Elholm).
History: a Dutch merchant ship with a letter of marque (300 or 400 tons, 8 guns, 21 men), bound from Saint Domingue to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, coffee, cotton; taken on 27 March 1782 in latitude 31°24'N, longitude 73°23'W by HMS Albacore (Richard Callcott commanding), and brought into New York.
