High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: L'Emille (master Pierre Serban).
History: a French naval transport ship (350 tons, 4 guns, 31 men), bound from Brest to a destination not yet given to the master, laden with cannon, cannon balls, iron bars, sailcloth, twine and steel; taken on 12 December 1781, in the Bay of Biscay by HMS Hawke, in sight of Admiral Kempenfelt's squadron [one of 15 naval transports taken in the Second Battle of Ushant], and brought into Portsmouth.
