Captured ship: Elizabeth (master Charles Alexander).
History: an American merchant ship (sloop, 80 or 90 tons, 20 guns, 25 men) bound from Baltimore to Dominica or Martinique, laden with tobacco; taken on 22 January 1779 in latitude 32°N, longitude 56°30'W, by the loyalist privateer George and Elizabeth (James Ridley commanding), and brought into New York.
