High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Elizabeth of Martinique (master John Baptiste Vieble).
History: a French merchant ship (220 tons, 23 men), bound from Charleston, South Carolina to Nantes, laden with rice, indigo, turpentine, rosin, tobacco, mahogany; taken on 27 March 1778 thirty leagues from Belle Isle in latitude 47°20'N, longitude 10°W by the privateer Active (Peter Agnew commanding), and brought first into Torbay and then into Guernsey.
Court papers: 1-10. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
