British ship: Eagle (master Thomas Short).
History: a British privateer condemned for breach of instructions for seizing several foreign ships in amity without bringing them into port or dominions in order to have them legally adjudged in the Court of Admiralty, and for having sold, spoiled, wasted or diminished goods seized and broken the bulk thereof before judgement given in the Court of Admiralty. Letters of marque against the French, Spanish and Americans removed from HCA 32/315/8.
