Captured ship: Dick and John of Providence, Rhode Island (master John Paine).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 45 tons, 4 men) bound from St Eustatius to Bedford [New Bedford], Massachusetts, laden with gin, coffee, dry goods, glass, earthenware, rum; taken on 3 October 1777 near Block Island, Rhode Island by HMS Cerberus (John Symons commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to the United States.
