British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Cyder Barrel (master Adam Boyd).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 15 or 50 tons, 5 men) bound from Sinepuxent, Maryland to Cap François, Saint Domingue, laden with tobacco, flour; taken on 5 May 1778 off the Capes of Virginia at Sinepuxent, Maryland by HMS Nautilus (John Collins commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to France.
Court papers numbered CP 1-3:-
- [CP 1]: libel in Advocate General at the relation of Collins v The schooner Cyder Barrel and her cargo, 1 July 1778;
- [CP 2]: affidavit of papers brought in by the prize master John McThinley midshipman, 1 July 1778;
- [CP 3]: deposition of Adam Boyd, 2 July 1778.
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-2:-
- SP 2: clearance of flour and sand, Pennsylvania, 14 August 1777;
- SP 2: clearance of tobacco and flour from Maryland, 18 April 1778.
