Captured ship: Cyder Barrel (master Adam Boyd).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 15 or 50 tons, 5 men) bound from Sinepuxent, Maryland to Cap François, Saint Domingue, laden with tobacco, flour; taken on 5 May 1778 off the Capes of Virginia at Sinepuxent, Maryland by HMS Nautilus (John Collins commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the Caribbean Islands to France.
