British New York Vice-Admiralty Court.
Captured ship: Cherry Bounce (master Middleton Belt).
Capture history: an American merchant ship (schooner, 30 tons), bound from Virginia, laden with tobacco; taken on 11 December 1780 off the Capes of Virginia by HMS Iris (George Dawson commanding), and brought into New York.
Intended voyage: from the United States to [unknown].
Court papers numbered CP 1-2:-
- [CP 1]: affidavit of papers (left aboard HMS Iris [not here]) brought in by the prize master James McAlpine, midshipman, 27 December 1780;
- [CP 2]: libel in Advocate General at the relation of Dawson v The schooner Cherry Bounce and her cargo, 27 December 1780.
[Papers previously wrongly identified as Court papers: 1-2 (large pencil numbers): sorted and renumbered in 2025].
